If you arrive in the UK on or after 8 June 2020, you will have to self-isolate yourself for the first 14 days you are in the UK. If you are travelling to the UK for less than 14 days, you will be expected to self-isolate for the length of your stay.
Before you travel to or through the UK, you should provide your journey, contact details and the address where you will self-isolate. You will have to complete the public health passenger locator form and present these details on your arrival in England either by printing a copy, or showing it on your phone. You cannot submit the form until 48 hours before you’re due to arrive in the UK.
You may be refused permission to enter the UK (if you are not a British citizen), or fined if you do not to provide your contact details or do not self-isolate when you arrive in the UK on or after 8 June 2020.
Fines for Violations
In England, if you do not self-isolate, you can be fined £1,000. You may be fined up to £100 if you refuse to provide your contact details (or £60 in Northern Ireland), or more if you break this rule more than once. If you do not provide an accurate contact detail declaration – or do not update your contact detail form in the limited circumstances where you need to move to another place to self-isolate – you can be fined up to £3,200.
Filling the form
You will need the below mentioned data
- your passport details
- the name of the airline, train or ferry company you’re travelling with
- the name of the company organising your tour group - if you’re travelling as part of a tour group
- your booking reference
- the name of the airport, port or station you’ll be arriving into
- the date you’ll be arriving
- your flight, train, bus or ferry number
- the address you’ll be staying at for your first 14 days in the UK
- details of someone who can be contacted if you get ill while you’re in the UK
If you’re travelling by Eurostar or Eurotunnel:
- put ‘Eurostar’ or ‘Eurotunnel’ when the form asks ‘What is the flight number, train service or ship name that you will arrive on?’
- provide your scheduled time of departure
You can save your information and complete it later. If you are inactive for 25 minutes, you will be automatically signed out. If you do not return to this form within 7 days, your information will be deleted.
The information you provide will be used by the Home Office and Public Health England, as described in the privacy policy.
If you’re travelling with other people, each one must complete a separate form. In the case of travelling with someone under 18 years old, they do not need their own form if you:
- will arrive and leave together
- will stay at the same UK address
- add their details into your form
Exemptions
You do not need to complete the form or self-isolate if you’re travelling to the UK from within the Common Travel Area, that is:
- the UK
- the Republic of Ireland
- the Channel Islands
- the Isle of Man
