Germany has introduced a one time payment of 200€ for students to help cope with the rising energy costs.
Applications are open from 15 March 2023 to 30 September 2023.
What do I need in order to apply?

An access code, which you will receive from your education or training establishment.

To log in, you will need a BundID account.
You would need to prove your identity with your BundID account, for which you’ll need
- the eID function of your German identity card
or your personal ELSTER certificate. - To use the electronic identification (eID) function, you will need: a modern smart phone and
an app which can read your identity document, such as AusweisApp2.
Note: If you are unable to use the eID function or ELSTER, you will receive a PIN from your education or training establishment, which can be used with your access code when applying.

Who is eligible for the one-off payment?
- Students in higher education who
-
were matriculated at a higher education institution in Germany on 1 December 2022 and
-
have a domicile or habitual residence in Germany.
- Students at trade and technical schools (Fachschulen) and full-time vocational schools (Berufsfachschulen)
-
who were enrolled at an education or training establishment in Germany on 1 December 2022 and
-
are resident in Germany, and
are enrolled in one of the following types of programme: -
courses at a full-time vocational school (Berufsfachschule) or trade and technical school (Fachschule) which last at least two years and lead to a professional qualification, or
-
courses at a trade and technical school (Fachschule) for which a prior professional qualification is an entry requirement, or
-
equivalent courses at other types of school, subject to the specified conditions
