How to block intrusive Ads on Youtube and on Other 😈 Sites

I’ll list a few ways of blocking intrusive ads on youtube or on any other sites. But you should always keep in mind these ads are the bread and butter to the original content creator so whitelist the sites where possible.

I personally avoid Chrome Browser as much as possible but Google has made sure that its products work better with Chrome than Firefox or any other. Youtube loads much faster in Chrome than Firefox!!!

1. For Desktop use Firefox!!!

Ublock comes as plugin/addons for most browsers so no tedious installation, it’s pretty straightforward.

2. For Android Mobile

android
There are two ways of blocking ads in Android. If you just need it for browsing there are browsers with Adblock capability as default and built on Chromium which is the base for Chrome browser. The reason I mention chromium; you will enjoy the same browsing experience as chrome added with AdBlock functionality. I will list those browser apps later in this post.

Or if you are looking for a complete solution that blocks ads on browser/ youtube app/candy crush use this Playstore Banned App! It’s ok it’s ok

Google just hates any apps that block their ads.

Download Blokada

Blokada works across all of your apps, not only the browser! It doesn’t require root, supports both Wi-Fi and mobile networks, and is perfectly safe and simple to use. Just turn it on, and it will do the job silently! Go to the official link provided to download or use the F-droid link provided below.

Blokada is served outside of Google’s official play store so follow the video to enable installation from other sources.

or use alternate stores like F-Droid

F-Droid is a robot with a passion for Free and Open Source (FOSS) software on the Android platform.

Browsers with Adblock Functionality

1. Brave

300x100-standard
Brave Web Browser is a fast, free, secure web browser with a built-in ad blocker*, tracking and security protection, and optimized data and battery experience.

What is Brave Ad Replacement?

Brave’s goal is to speed up the web, stop bad ads and pay publishers. One of the ways brave plans to accomplish this is with ad replacements. Brave has its own cryptocurrency called BAT users are rewarded with this currency for allowing brave approved sites or users can tip sites for their content. Please check their site for more info.

2. Vivaldi

Vivaldi is fast, rich in functionality, highly flexible and puts the user first. I would say it is more of privacy-focused than AdBlock.

It’s based on the Chromium source code and is compatible with most Google Chrome extensions.

Vivaldi accounts can be used on the support forums, to sync browsing data, and access Vivaldi Mail.

Developed by Vivaldi Technologies, a company founded by co-founder and former CEO of Opera, Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner and Tatsuki Tomita.

Please feel to reply with more adblock options.

Another great adblocker for all platforms is Adguard but there’s the free and premium version and they are not on play store for all mobiles.

3. DuckdDuckgo

DuckDuckgo app provides the privacy essentials you need to seamlessly take control of your personal information as you search and browse the web, no matter where the Internet takes you:
• Escape Advertising Tracker Networks — Our Privacy Protection will block all the hidden third-party trackers we can find, exposing the major advertising networks tracking you over time, so that you can track who’s trying to track you.
• Increase Encryption Protection — We force sites to use an encrypted connection where available, protecting your data from prying eyes, like ISPs.
• Search Privately — You share your most personal information with your search engine, like your financial, medical, and political questions. What you search for is your own business, which is why DuckDuckGo search doesn’t track you. Ever.
• Decode Privacy Policies — We’ve partnered with Terms of Service Didn’t Read to include their scores and labels of website terms of service and privacy policies, where available.
